In partnership with other higher education institutions, the DIGIT Lab maintains the software licensing for ESRI products at the University of Utah. This means the DIGIT Lab is the front line support for ESRI products on campus. If we can not answer your questions, we pass them along to ESRI support.

GIS TrainingThe DIGIT Lab offers specific training for ArcGIS. We are an authorized training partner with ESRI and offer some of their course. We run them approximately 4 times a year and the cost is $250 for students and $400 for non-students. We have also developed one and two day workshops on database design and spatial analysis. Please contact us for further information regarding these courses. The University of Utah’s Department of Geography has one of the strongest GIS education programs in the North America and has successfully educated hundreds of GIS specialists. The Department of Geography offers a series of classes aimed at teaching both the fundamentals of Geographic Information Science as well as using GIS (ESRI) software. There are 4 semester length courses that consist of both strong theoretical background and hands-on lab sessions (See http://www.geog.utah.edu/ for more details). Lastly, and maybe the most pratical training is free via ESRI Virual Courses. ESRI offers online courses to train users in the use of ESRI’s software. This is a great way to get trained on the use of a specific tool within ArcGIS. |
